Continuing Lindores Abbey’s tribute to the revered Friar John Cor—whose 1494 distillation marked the first recorded whisky in Scotland—Chapter III is a bold and intricate release that honours the origins of the craft while showcasing the distillery’s signature precision and care.
This limited-edition expression is matured in a refined trio of casks: ex-Bourbon barrels, Amontillado sherry, and rich Pedro Ximénez butts. After blending, the whisky is reintroduced to the sherry casks for a final period of integration, lending exceptional depth, harmony, and complexity to the profile.
Bottled at a commanding 60.2% ABV, with no chill filtration and natural colour, this cask-strength release is a pure, unadulterated showcase of Lindores’ dedication to authenticity.
Appearance: Deep mahogany
Nose: A rich medley of sweet vanilla and treacle, mingled with crisp red apples, floral tones, golden honey, and a tapestry of dried fruits.
Palate: Luxuriously smooth, revealing layers of dark syrup, raisins, and figs. Notes of warming spice, bittersweet dark chocolate, and toasted nuts emerge as it unfolds.
Finish: Long, elegant, and comforting, with enduring echoes of chocolate fudge and spiced cinnamon warmth.
