Our limited-edition seasonal releases showcase our household style across the year, with each season being celebrated through the selection of different casks.
As the name suggests, Harvest Edition is inspired by our annual harvest, which is our biggest and busiest event of the year. It requires our farmers working round the clock to harvest all our barley before the weather turns, which in Scotland can happen in a matter of minutes! Our barley is then stored in the grain shed until it is ready to be used for next year’s production.
Our First Crop of Harvest Edition, launched in September 2022, was matured in a combination of Port, first-fill Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. For our Second Crop, we’ve altered the recipe to include more Port, specifically Ruby and Tawny. Production Director John Campbell explains that with the whisky now another a year older, it can withstand the richness and intensity of these casks. This year we’ve also swapped out Sherry casks for STR barriques to balance out the fruity, creamy flavours from the Port and add a delightful spice.
On the nose, this whisky packs a fruity punch, with notes of dates, thick cut marmalade and ripe red grapes. The STR influence really shines through on the palate of this dram, with pink peppercorns and dried fruit flavours, developing into a beautiful creaminess to finish.
Harvest Edition (Second Crop) is a limited-edition release, with 11,000 bottles available globally. It sits at 46% ABV and, as with all our whiskies, is non-chill filtered with no added colouring.
