Part of the 2023 Port Askaig relaunch, this 8 Year Old expression showcases the brand’s signature Islay character with remarkable depth. The whisky begins its maturation in American oak barrels before spending over five years in a combination of bourbon barrels, toasted American oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, and refill hogsheads. As with all Port Askaig releases, it remains non-chill filtered and contains no added colouring, preserving its natural integrity.
Nose:
A lively balance of sweet vanilla and bright citrus zest, underpinned by the unmistakable presence of Islay peat smoke.
Palate:
Coastal and earthy, with notes of seagrass, limestone, and dark, tarry peat, complemented by hints of liquorice and charred rubber.
Finish:
Enduring and smoky, leaving a warm, peaty impression that lingers beautifully.
